OUYA is coming; On March 28

OUYA announced that its Android-powered game console is shipping to Kickstarter backers starting on March 28th. The company took to its kickstarter page to announce the news, which says, "Parts are in the factory and assembly lines are buzzing." When the console starts arriving to folks who supported the Kickstarter campaign which finished in August 2012-- wherein the company raised just over $8.6 million dollars -- That extra money has gone into luring game developers to the platform, and at last count the console was going to launch with somewhere around 500 games. Alongside news of the console's launch date for backers comes word that Portal creator Kim Swift is developing a "brand new, exclusive title" for the console, and Papo & Yo dev studio Minority Media is also stepping up with a new game. Both Tripwire Interactive and nWay are also bringing games to the OUYA, with the former working on two games and the latter working on one (action-RPG ChronoBlade).

The trouble is that a lot of the premiere games don't seem to be launch titles. Square Enix is on board with Final Fantasy III for the OUYA launch, but a lot of the games mentioned in today's announcement won't be there for launch. The developer of Papo & Yo has an adventure puzzler due this fall, and Kim Swift of Airtight Games (as well as Portal and Left 4 Dead fame) said the team is developing a game for OUYA, but hasn't even announced when it will come out.

Still, there should be a solid selection, and a lot more games coming. And, it's only a month away from the start of the consoles shipping.

Apple To Release 4.5-inch iPhone In 2014

A new report from Macotakara claims that Apple will release a polycarbonate 4.5-inch iPhone in 2014. The report went on to suggest the handset will be made of polycarbonate; a glossy, robust type of plastic used by many other smartphone vendors, as well as the famed entry-level MacBook.

For the very enticing price tag, the entry-level iPhone will also pack in a 4.5-inch display, which would be noticeably, if not exceptionally larger than that of the current iPhone 5. Although the iPhone 5 is revered for its thin form factor and sleek aluminum finish, those purchasing the entry-level model should not expect such niceties. Apparently, it will be thicker than the current flagship thanks to the polycarbonate body, although the alternative design may also render it more durable than its high-end counterpart.

The report concludes by briefly touching on the subject of the iPhone 5′s successor. The device, which Macotakara is calling the "iPhone 5S", is reckoned to include a dual-flash LED module to help improve the long-standing low-lighting issues, while two flash exposures will allegedly be stacked atop each other on the right-hand side of the camera lens.

Be Ready 4 The Next Galaxy

Samsung tweets 'Be Ready 4 The Next Galaxy' invitation for Times Square Galaxy S IV festivites March 14.

Samsung already sent out invitations for its big March 14 event in NYC, where it is widely expected to announce the 2013 Galaxy S IV flagship, and it seems the festivities will be spilling over to Times Square as well.

The Koreans haven't been shy with advertising dollars in the last few years, while building the Galaxy brand, outspending Apple more than ten-to-one last year, and that prime New York advertising real estate called Times Square won't come cheap again.

Internet Explorer 10 Final For Windows 7

Good news to all PC users who have been using the Release Preview version of Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7. Microsoft has just released the final version of Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and is now ready for download.

Users who would like to upgrade to Internet Explorer 10 need to remember that you must be running Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1. So make sure you’re running Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 before jumping to the download page.

Internet Explorer has declined significantly in popularity, but this latest version comes with features that put it back in line against the likes of Chrome and Firefox. The release does not have all of the features are available in the Windows 8 variant of the browser but here are some of the salient new features of IE 10 that might make you want to give it another shot on Windows 7.

Do Not Track
Internet Explorer 10 has a Do Not Track feature. It is enabled by default, but you can disable it if you want from Internet Options > Advanced under the Security options.

Spell Check & Auto Correct
Internet Explorer 10 has spell check and also has auto-correct. Spell check is available for 95 languages and it’s likely to become a very formidable feature for other browsers to compete with. Spell check can be disabled from the add-on manager. You can add or change dictionaries from the right-click context menu for misspelled words, or from the add-on manager.

Better HTML 5 Support & Sandbox Technology
Most websites are increasingly using HTML 5 technology and up to version 9, IE10 has been notorious compared to other browsers when it comes to HTML5 support. Not only does the new version support HTML 5 better than all previous version, but it also features sandboxing support for HTML5 webapps.

Pointer Events
Internet Explorer 10 supports pointer events; it will allow websites to detect and respond to touch gestures. This feature is obviously more useful on Windows 8 that has shipped on several touch screen devices, but it’s a step in the right direction for the browser overall.
