Samsung Galaxy S5 to be unveilled in mid-March in London

Samsung won’t be unveiling its upcoming flagship device at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, instead it would be unveiling it in an event, which would entirely be dedicated to the Galaxy S5, in London in mid-March. An Italian journalist, Flavio, claim’s that a reliable source confirmed about this Global launch event to him.

Samsung would have never launched the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress, nor the Korean giant has launched any flagship device at MWC after the Galaxy S II. The reason behind this is simple, the Galaxy S series is just too popular to be launched at MWC and Samsung would not want to share the news space with other products. And, Samsung has the budget to host their own event, so why not ?

New gesture controls on Samsung Galaxy S5 detailed

A published report reveals that an European patent awarded to Samsung, could hint at new capabilities for the Samsung Galaxy S5. The patent covers a way to use head movements to control a device. The front-facing camera would monitor the user's head and watch for certain movements or gestures like a wink or a nod.

Some of the features on the Samsung Galaxy S4 already use the phone's front-facing camera to monitor certain capabilities. For example, Smart Stay will freeze a video that you're watching if you turn your eyes away from the screen. With the new patent, a certain head movement will allow you turn a page on the screen. And any action that is set off by a head movement would require a nod to confirm. That would prevent you from accidentally setting off a feature with an unintentional gesture or movement of the head.

[Leaked] Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo

Earlier this week, a new upcoming Samsung phablet was uncovered when preliminary specs for the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. Now, the device that will be a more affordable version of the company’s popular Note 3 phablet has apparently been pictured for the first time. SamMobile posted the photo above on its Twitter feed on Friday and no other details were provided. An earlier report suggested that the Note 3 Neo will feature a 5.55-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel camera, a 3,100 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM and a new 6-core processor when it debuts in the near future.

It's likely that we'll get official word of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo at MWC 2014 next month.

Samsung's Tizen smartphones will available in March

Google has seemed a bit concerned for some time that Samsung has taken such a dominant role in the Android ecosystem. Google will have a new reason to be concerned: beginning in March, Samsung will dominate Android and compete with it at the same time.

According to a report from Japan-based magazine Mainichi, top Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo has confirmed that Tizen smartphones will become available beginning in March. The news follows a number of delays that pushed the launch of Samsung’s first Tizen phone back from last year, but the consumer tech giant apparently has no plans to delay things any further. The first round of Samsung’s Tizen handsets are expected to debut next month during the annual Mobile World Congress trade show.

More iPhone 6 details emerge

Apple’s next-generation iPhone 6 will not feature a 13-megapixel or 16-megapixel camera as had been previously rumored. Instead, the upcoming handset will apparently sport an 8-megapixel unit that touts improvements in other areas.

“According to Nomura Securities, Largan’s recently lagging performance in the market is caused by rumors that Apple may adopt an 8 mega-pixel (MP) camera with improved optical image stabilization on its upcoming handset, instead of the 16 MP upgrade anticipated by industry observers,” The China Post’s Ted Chen wrote. “Apple’s decision is based on the design requirement to retain the handset’s more portable form factor, said Nomura Securities.”

The latest rumors suggest that Apple is prepping two new iPhone models that will debut this year. The first is supposedly an iPhone phablet that could launch as early as May, and the second is the iPhone 6, which will supposedly be thinner than the iPhone 5s and will feature a larger 4.7-inch display that reaches nearly to the edges of the device on either side.
